REED RICKERT – Producer, Director, Cinemotagrapher
Reed is an award winning documentary filmmaker, who has produced, directed, photographed and edited various documentaries, TV programs and branding films worldwide.
Reed is a two time finalist for National Geographic’s Wild To Inspire Short Film Competition and in 2019 he won with his film The Flip, which premiered at Sun Valley Film Festival and was Official Selection at Banff Mountain Film Festival & World Tour, Kendal Mountain Film Festival, Boulder International Film Festival, Telluride Mountainfilm Festival, San Jose International Film Festival, BendFilm Festival and more.
He was recipient of the National Geographic Filmmakers Grant to produce his most recent film Pacha Kuti: The Golden Path.
He was cinematographer on the Amazon Prime series Pan y Circo starring Diego Luna as well as the Grammy winning music documentary El Objeto Antes Llamado El Disco, La Pelicula, a film that follows legendary Mexican rock band Cafe Tacvba.
In 2009, he won the Latino Public Broadcasting Open Call Award to make his first feature documentary, The Third Root, which had its world premiere at the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
Reed was a Division I soccer player for University of Maryland where he began studies in Anthropology before graduating from California College of the Arts in Oakland, CA with a BFA in Film / Video. He is the founder of Bumi Films, a full service multimedia production company.
As an avid rock climber and explorer Reed is drawn to stories in adventure sports, music, and nature and cultural conservation.
